I was introduced to GIS and mapping while doing archaeological fieldwork with the University of Uppsala in 2018. I loved how making maps allowed me to combine my interests in history, data, and design to help communicate complex ideas and stories.

Since then, I’ve worked as a freelance cartographer and data visualization specialist; a GIS technologist with the City of Red Deer, Alberta; and a production assistant with an independent publishing company. I’ve had the opportunity to map a wide variety of topics, from shipwrecks off the coast of Nova Scotia to wildfires in the Northwest Territories to bobcats in Wyoming. In 2022, I received a graduate diploma in cartography and data visualization from the Centre for Geographic Sciences in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia.

Originally from the shores of Atlantic Canada, I moved to Columbia to join the Division of Integrated Health and Policy Research at IFS as a GIS Analyst in January of 2024. I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with IHPR to help inform policy decisions that will improve health care access in South Carolina. Outside of work, I like to spend my time hiking, taking photos, and exploring South Carolina.
